Director of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, Bendix
Maria started her early career in quality in the ceramic industry. After completing her master’s in environmental engineering, and doing a brief stay in the consulting world, she joined Bendix CVS in 1997 as an environmental engineer at the Acuna, Mexico location. She joined the corporate headquarters office in Elyria, OH in 2002 as the environmental process leader. In a few years, Maria eventually took the responsibility over the complete Health, Safety & Environmental function across Bendix.
Maria took on the role of Director of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CRS) at Bendix to align with the corporate structure and one of her first endeavors was to define the company’s overall CRS strategy. Since then, she has been responsible for driving initiatives and establishing company processes that have triple bottom line benefits (social, environmental and financial). Maria oversees programs related to community involvement, sustainability & energy efficiency, occupational health & safety, environmental management, security & loss prevention and EHS compliance. Maria has responsibility for all North America Bendix locations.
Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
